Welcome from our Headteacher

A very warm welcome to Goonhavern Primary School.

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of this wonderful school and to serve the community that sits at its heart. Goonhavern is a happy, caring and ambitious school where relationships are at the centre of everything we do. We believe that every child should feel seen, heard, valued and know that they truly belong. By working together, we create an environment where children feel safe, confident and inspired to be the very best version of themselves.

Primary school is such an important chapter in a child's life. When I look back on my own primary school years, I remember them with great fondness, and I am driven to ensure that every child who attends Goonhavern leaves with equally happy memories, a strong sense of self, and the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in whatever path they choose next.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by the beauty of Cornwall and to benefit from extensive outdoor grounds that enrich our curriculum and provide opportunities for exploration, adventure and discovery. Alongside high-quality teaching and learning, we are passionate about providing wider experiences that broaden horizons, build confidence and help children discover their unique talents and interests. Whether in the classroom, outdoors, through sport, the arts or the wider curriculum, we want every child to flourish.

Our aim is simple: for every child to exceed their potential, develop self-confidence and believe that anything is possible. We want our children to be ambitious, resilient and kind, understanding that mistakes are an important part of learning and growth. Through strong relationships, inspiring opportunities and high expectations, we help children become successful learners, responsible citizens and compassionate members of their community.

We value the partnerships we share with parents, carers and the wider community, recognising that children achieve their very best when we work together. Goonhavern is a welcoming school, and visitors often comment on the warmth, friendliness and sense of belonging they experience when they walk through our doors. We are immensely proud of our school and the role it plays within the community it serves.

Whether you are already part of our school family or considering Goonhavern Primary School for your child, I hope our website gives you a flavour of what makes our school such a special place. Please do get in touch and arrange a visit. We are always delighted to welcome new families and would love the opportunity to show you our school in action.

I look forward to welcoming you to Goonhavern Primary School.
